Top Reasons Why Self-Care is Important for Introverts

✨You can’t give what you don’t have.

✨You can’t pour from an empty cup.

✨Put your own life vest on before you put one on someone else.

Self-care. It’s been a pretty popular topic over the past few years because more and more of us are learning how important it is.

Chances are pretty high that you’ve heard the sayings I mentioned above.

It’s one thing to hear the sayings, but it’s a whole other thing to actually DO them.

You need to have something in order to give it.  So you have to get it first.

In order to get it you have to literally DO something to get it.

If you want to give money, you need to have money first.

How do you get money? For most of us, from working a job or exchanging goods or services for money.

How do you get the job in the first place?  Well, it’s a process right?

It takes some digging. It takes time.

Learning good self-care is worth the effort for introverts because it’s our lifeline.

Good self-care is what keeps us going and keeps us happy. Which in turn makes us effective in the world.

Now let’s get into the top reasons why Self-Care is Important for Introverts.

We get tired and drained after being social.

It’s one of the pillars of introvert life, it’s just a part of who we are.

Introverts tend to be really sensitive to our environments, so the more stimulation we endure, the more our social battery is drained and we need to rest up. Yes this is normal.

There’ve been many times where I’ve gone to an event knowing I was already completely exhausted. I already know that for the next few days I’ll be laying extremely low in order to recharge and refuel my energy.

No one can take care of you like you can.

No one knows what you really need like you do.  You have to take the time to really check in with yourself.

Sure, family, friends and loved ones can ask how you’re feeling.  But you’re around you more than any of them are.

Everywhere you go, there you are!  So it’s super important to really take care of yourself.

There is only one you. Only one perfectly unique and amazing you.

No one knows what you need better than you.   So ask yourself what you need and really figure that out.

It makes us better people.

Do you get snappy when you’re tired? Irritable? I know I do.

If I never take the time to see how I’m feeling, eventually no one would want to be around me because I’d be a walking train wreck.

When I take time to check in with myself, figure out what I need, fulfill that need, I become a happier me.

Which in turn helps me spread that happiness onto other people. Instead of a sour, sad, annoyed version of myself, my friends, loved ones, and everyone I encounter in the world will get the best version of me.

And since it’s important to me to be a positive influence in the world, it helps me feel like I’m fulfilling my purpose.
