How to Plan a Wedding the Easy Way

How to plan Your Wedding

I did lots of research on the best way to plan our wedding.  I scoured the internet, went to bookstores, talked to my friends and relatives.  I found the best tools that helped me the most, so I want to help you planning a  wedding the easy way!

BEST WEDDING PLANNING TOOLS:

Year Long Calendar Planner + Wedding Planning Checklist

Having a year long planner with the months and a separate layout spread of each individual week, and a wedding checklist helped me stay on track with planning my wedding.  I actually found a few checklists and I created and customized my own.  I made a really pretty one just for you that you can download for FREE, just scroll down to the bottom of this post.

These are my absolute favorite planners: click here. I wish I knew about this planner when I was planning my wedding!

You will love this calendar, these changed my life!  I’m hooked now, and now I’ve got my Mom hooked on them too, she loves them!  It will help make your wedding planning so much easier.

How to use calendar planner and checklist, step by step:

I broke the checklist down and wrote it into the right margin of the coordinating month in my planner, according to when things should be done.  There was a notes section on the right margin of each Month.

Here’s an example I’ll walk you through.

TASK: ORDER THE WEDDING CAKE

♥ The wedding cake needed to be ordered 2-4 Months before the wedding.

Our wedding was in July, so I wrote “Purchase wedding cake” in the notes area of the Month of April.  This prompted me to find bakeries for my wedding cake and schedule my cake tastings.

♥ I’d write in my cake tasting appointments for the month of April in the larger month section.

♥ In the weeks sections, I’d write down “Cake Tasting” on my appointment date, and write in the details of the bakery.  The name and address and names of people I spoke to.

Then when I went to the cake tasting I’d write in what cakes I liked, pricing and details of when we needed to put in the order, down payment amounts etc.

♥ By April and May we were doing cake tastings and looking for the best cake!  This was one of the most fun parts of wedding planning by the way because I’m a bit of a foodie, teehee!

This kept us on track, especially with making sure the big things got done.

Staying on Budget With Your Wedding

The planner I use has a budget expense tracking extension you can buy and add into your Planner!  I’d get this if you need something to help you track your expenses and make sure you’re staying on budget with everything.

As you probably already know, weddings can be really expensive.  Do the best you can to plan out your budget and keep on top of things.

Keep your receipts, invoices, everything related to your expenses in one place.  I love using a big envelope for my receipts, even outside of wedding planning (these are my faves).

Concluding Thoughts on Wedding Planning

My amazing Mom found this book for me, The Everything Wedding Etiquette Book. It was great to have because it mentioned quite a few things I wasn’t even thinking about.  If you’re big on books and information like me, definitely check it out!

I really hope this helps to make planning your wedding easier.  Please come back and let me know how you planned your wedding and how things went for you!
