Sometimes time will not allow a full beauty beat because well, life!
One day I was driving in the car feeling so tired and worn out. I had a busy day ahead of me, like many other days. I looked down like I have so many other times before, and saw the dryness of my hands and immediately went grappling for my purse.
I grabbed my trusty hand lotion and carefully applied a little to my parched hands. And then instantly went for my lip gloss. Because yep, dry hands means dry lips.
Sigh, I just didn’t have any time for myself that morning!
These days, more than ever I’m realizing the importance of self-care, and learning this is changing my life. As a new Wife and Mom, I have gotten so wrapped up in my family that I forget about me.
So carrying these four items in my purse at all times is a must. When you’re on the go, sometimes self-care is as simple as a little hand cream and lip gloss.
1 Ruby Woo Retro Matte Lipstick
This is a must have lippie that every single woman should carry in her purse. Ruby Woo Retro Matte Lipstick has been one of MAC’s best sellers for years for a reason; it is ah-mazing! It’s a true blue red, and it works on every. Single. Skin. Tone. Every one!
It has a matte finish, and it stays so extremely well. It instantly revs up any look, any day, any time. If all you have time to do is put on a red lip and a little mascara, you are good to go, and you will instantly feel fabulous!
2 Mary Kay Nourishine Plus Lip Gloss
I have a couple go-to’s for lip gloss, but Mary Kay Nourishine Plus Lip Gloss is a new favorite of mine. It’s awesome and I just love it! I don’t like sticky lip gloss, and I don’t like when you put on a gloss and it feels like water and is gone in 2 seconds.
I do like for my gloss to stay for a while, and I want a good shine. This one does the trick and it also leaves your lips feeling hydrated as it fades!

3 Assured Creamy Cocoa Butter Petroleum Jelly
Updated: I’ve had to change my go to hand cream because it looks like Dollar Tree no longer sells this. Assured Creamy Cocoa Butter Petroleum Jelly used to be my fave! It was ah-mazing.
The good new is, I’ve found a comparable one. It’s the Dermasil Eczema Relief Moisturizing Lotion, and it’s just as good as my previous fave!
I’m almost embarrassed to admit that this is my go-to hand cream because it is so boring and it only costs one buck! But listen friend, this is one of the best hand creams I’ve used! And you can’t beat one buck, right at my local Dollar Tree.
Believe me, all Dollar Tree lotion is not created equal, as many of them are watered down. But this one is not! It has a light scent that doesn’t stick, so it’s perfect if you don’t like your lotion scent to interfere with your perfume.
Definitely worth a dollar, and I’d grab a few if you see them!
4 Revlon Volume + Length Magnified Mascara
If you’ve never tried a lengthening mascara, you must try one! They are not all created equal, as some (not all) contain lengthening fibers to extend your lashes to amazing lengths. This is a super quick and easy way to get the full, lush lash look without having to use false lashes!
Revlon Volume + Length Magnified Mascara has been my go-to mascara for a few years now, and it does contain black lengthening fibers to visibly extend your lashes. My eyes can be a little sensitive so I had to try a few different makeup lines before I found this. It is by far my fave so far!
I don’t care for waterproof mascara (although this one is available in waterproof), and this one stays all day and doesn’t run. It makes my lashes look beautiful every time!
So find a good lip stick, a lip gloss, hand cream and mascara to keep in your purse. It’s a great easy way to fit “you” into the day!
