Has the "Introvert" experience followed you through life?
If your experience has been similar to mine, your introvert traits may’ve followed you throughout your life.
Beginning in grade school, all the way to now.
Perhaps you have memories of relishing in a few moments of solitude in your school library.
Which would be fine except you saw most other kids enjoying their time in the school lunch room being social or playing together at recess.
Maybe like me, you envied the girl who couldn’t shut up and never ran out of things to say to every person she encountered.
Or the one who was most popular.
Or the class clown who effortlessly breezed through every social scene from the classroom to the pep rallies.
"You should talk more" and other common statements made to introverts
Have you struggled constantly with your personality?
Maybe you’ve been annoyed with yourself a lot, frustrated even.
You can’t understand why it’s so hard for you to connect to new people.
Not only do you have negative messages ringing in your own head about yourself,
there are messages given to you by others telling you you’re not good enough the way you are.
You’re constantly asked why you’re so quiet? Do you ever talk?
Constantly told you should talk more. You should be more social.
Don’t be shy. Be confident!
By the way, I don’t believe being an introvert is the same as being shy.
